Daybreak Health (www.daybreakhealth.com) is building the leading digital mental health system for youth. Our mission is to create a world where every young person benefits from mental health support. Our mental health system removes all barriers to effective care for young people: we create easy access through our school and pediatrician partners, deliver effective care through evidence-based online therapy that is integrated with technology, and bring consumer cost to zero through our funding partnerships with government agencies and health insurance. Over the next 5 years we plan to serve more than 25 million youth who need mental health support.

We’re a YC-backed company that raised its Seed from Maven Ventures and just raised our Series A from a Top 10 VC (announcement coming soon). We’re a rocketship, with our revenue more than tripling between July and November of 2021 in California, and more acceleration in sight. We’re hiring for critical roles now to have an even bigger 2022 and expand nationally.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for developing and operationalizing Daybreak’s network contracts with major national health plans, reporting directly to our CEO (who is doing much of this work today). You will join as a member of Daybreak’s executive team, driving a critical part of Daybreak’s strategy to create a world where consumer cost for therapy is close to zero. Our vision is to have relationships with every major health plan (both commercial and Medicaid) across the country in the next 3-5 years. We have a good start to this in California but you will take this nationwide. You will build and own the full health plan partnership life cycle from contracting, to credentialing, to building a team to own utilization and revenue cycle management.

Your first few priorities will include:

  1. Formalize Daybreak’s formal health plan strategy, including both commercial and Medicaid
  2. Create new in-network contract relationships with all major national health plans, innovating on the reimbursement model
  3. Activate our existing in-network relationships with major national health plans to drive patient utilization
  4. Putting in place a credentialing and billing team and program

Beyond these initial projects you will work directly with the CEO to prioritize future projects.


  • Lead the development and implementation of Daybreak’s health plan payer relations and network strategy
  • Negotiate contracts across Commercial and Medicaid
  • Develop and own relationships with all major national health plans
  • Own the health plan revenue target and drive it upwards as a portion of Daybreak’s overall revenue
  • Lead credentialing and enrollment
  • Drive innovation with contractual relationships with health plans, including value-based care and capitated models


  • 10+ years leading a payer relations team at a healthcare organization or leading the network team within a leading health plan
  • Strong relationships with key decision makers (network and contracting teams) at national, regional, and/or state-specific health plans
  • Proven track record of negotiating and implementing Commercial and Medicaid contracts with health plans
  • Ample experience in sales, structuring business models, contracts and negotiating terms to optimize contracts
  • Experience in digital health
  • Experience in behavioral healthcare is a plus


Daybreak’s compensation is a mix of cash and equity. As a high-growth company on a mission, we value employees who are fully bought in and want to be owners in the company. As such our cash compensation is average, and our equity compensation is above market.
